Order today: delivered by 4 December 2026 at the latest (11 December in WA, Tasmania and the NT), or you choose a full refund.

Nothing to pay on delivery: no duty, no tax, no fee
Council says no? We refund you in full. If your council does not accept a garden enclosure as a way to keep your cat contained, send us their written answer within 90 days of delivery. We refund the full price and we collect the enclosure at our cost. 26 council areas are already read on their own pages; 19 name a garden enclosure as accepted. In the ACT there is no council to ask: containment is a territory-wide rule, and the ACT Government's own page names “an enclosed area in a backyard or courtyard” as a way to comply.
If we miss the date, you choose. Give us more time, or take a full refund. If you have not answered within 7 days, we refund you in full.

Description

A 1.8 metre cube of garden your cat can use and cannot leave. You unzip one face and go in with them. They come back inside when you do. Steel frame, knotted net, a hammock hung inside, a weather cover over the top, and a bag it all folds into.

The band along the ground is Oxford fabric, not a PVC coating: a PVC coating left on wet grass tends to wear, crack and peel sooner.

Shipping and returns

By sea, not by air: by air the freight costs more than the enclosure. Nothing is collected from you on delivery: our freight forwarder is the importer and clears customs. The latest delivery date is shown on this page before you order, and written in your order confirmation e-mail. If we miss it you choose between more time and a full refund.

Delivery is included in Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT. Elsewhere you pay what the longer road leg costs us, shown at checkout before you pay: Queensland about AUD 12, South Australia about AUD 16, Western Australia about AUD 28, Tasmania and the Northern Territory about AUD 52. A few remote postcodes cost the carrier more, but you never pay more than the price shown at checkout. If the carrier cannot reach your postcode, we tell you before anything ships and refund you in full. Shipping policy.

Our guarantee

Three things, all written down. One year against rust: we asked the factory for two and they refused in writing, so we print one. If we miss the delivery date written on your order, you choose: more time, or a full refund. And if your council does not accept a garden enclosure as containment, their written answer within 90 days of delivery gets you a full refund, and we collect the enclosure at our cost.

Do you actually have to contain your cat?

Most of Victoria says yes at night, a growing list says yes around the clock, and the ACT has required containment for every new cat since 2022. Enter your postcode and we will tell you what your council requires — no email needed.

We do not store this. Nothing is sent anywhere — the answer is already in this page.

3 reasons

Why a cat owner puts one in the garden

The garden, without the road. Where your council requires containment, check that it names an enclosure: 19 of the 26 we read do.

1

Your cat gets the garden without the road

Grass under the feet, birds overhead, the smell of outside. No road, no roaming, no neighbour's complaint. 1.8 metres each way, and a hammock at height.

✓1.8 × 1.8 × 1.8 m · 3.2 m² of floor
2

You stop being the door

Out, in, out again. You go in with them and they come back in when you do. It is the part nobody mentions until they have lived it.

✓Hammock included, hung at height
3

You stop choosing between your cat and the rule

If your council says the cat stays home, your cat still says otherwise: at the window, at 5 a.m., at the door you are closing with your foot. This is the answer where neither of you loses.

Every product figure from our suppliers, in writingTube, net and warranty come from the factory's written quotation and e-mails; carton size and weight are printed on the factory's carton. Delivery times and costs come from our freight forwarder's written quotes. None from a sales call. Where they said they do not know, we say it too.
Read what we do not know
One year against rust, not twoWe asked for two years. The factory refused in writing: no supplier can honestly promise zero rust for two years outdoors. So we print one, and we print why.
The knots you can countThe net is knotted at every crossing. It is visible in the factory's own close-up photograph, not just in their words.

Details you will love

The netting, knotted at every crossing

Knotted at every crossing

One cut strand is not a hole.

A knotted net holds its shape when a single strand is cut or chewed. A welded or glued grid unravels from that same point. You can count the knots in the photograph.

Galvanised steel tubes before they are painted, open ends visible

The part that rusts first is the part you never see

Paint covers the outside of a tube. Rain sits on the inside.

The factory wrote to us: "The entire steel tube is galvanized, so both the outside and inside surfaces have a zinc coating." In the same e-mail, they added that the coating on the inner wall "may be slightly thinner and less uniform than on the outer surface." We print both. The photograph shows the tubes before they are painted: bare galvanised steel, open ends towards you.

The zipped door, closed

A door, not a hatch

One whole face opens.

One face unzips from top to bottom. You go in holding the cat, a bowl or the hammock, and zip it shut from the inside.

The cat asleep in the hammock

A hammock, hung inside

An empty cube is a cage. A cube with a height to sleep at is a place.

Cats pick the highest comfortable spot they can reach. The hammock is included, not an extra. The factory tells us it hangs quite high, and a cat may need a small step or platform to reach it. The step is not included.

The green roof cover fitted over the top of the enclosure

A cover over the top

Shade at noon, shelter from light to moderate rain.

The weather cover clips over the roof. The factory tells us it is not UV-rated and not made for heavy rain, so we say so. When a storm is forecast, the whole enclosure comes down and goes back in its bag.

The whole enclosure packs into one bag

It folds into one bag

A 1.8 m cube that packs down to 87 cm.

Tubes come apart, the net folds, everything goes in the bag it arrived in.

The choice

Two ways to keep a cat at home. Only one has a garden.

Your council's rule is the same either way. What changes is what your cat's day looks like.

How it goes up

Push. Cover. Then go in!

No drilling, nothing fixed to the house. It comes apart again and goes back into its carry bag.

Everything that comes in the cartonStep 1

Find 1.8 × 1.8 m of flat ground

Grass or soil, reasonably level. Not concrete: the stakes do not hold on a slab.

The net and the base band on the frameStep 2

Push the tubes into the corners

Short sections push into the corner connectors. The net goes over, the four stakes go in.

The zip doorStep 3

Unzip the door and go in

Carry the cat in, hang the hammock, sit down with them. When a storm is forecast, it folds back into its bag.

Frequent questions

Will it hold on concrete or a deck?

No. Four ground stakes hold it on grass or soil. On a slab there is nothing for them to bite into. If your only flat spot is concrete, tell us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether this suits you.

I rent. Can I put one in the garden?

Maybe, but ask first, in writing, and keep the answer. The enclosure stands on its own: nothing is fixed to the house, a wall, a fence or paving, and nothing is drilled. Four stakes pushed into the lawn and ropes hold it. It comes apart, goes back into its carry bag, and leaves with you when you move. The stakes leave small holes in the lawn, and the grass underneath needs the enclosure moved now and then.

That makes it easier to ask for. It does not mean you can skip asking: none of the official rental pages we read says a removable item is automatically exempt, and Queensland's even gives a movable above-ground pool as something that needs approval. If your cat is not approved yet, ask for that too, with your state's pet request form if it has one: our letter does not replace it. In a unit block where the lawn is shared, write to the owners' committee (strata or body corporate) first.

Our free guide has a letter for your landlord, property manager or owners' committee, and what the official pages of Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia say. Elsewhere, ask your state or territory's tenancy office. It needs grass or soil: the stakes do not hold on concrete, paving or a deck. Open the free guide (PDF).

What happens in strong wind?

We asked the factory for a wind rating. They have never tested one, and we would rather print that than invent a number. It is made for normal wind and light to moderate rain. In a storm, take it down: it folds into its bag.

Can my cat stay in it on a hot day?

Not when it is very hot: then your cat is safer inside. On a warm day, give shade and cool, fresh water. The roof cover gives shade, but it is not UV-rated. Our own tip: put the enclosure where a tree or a wall shades it in the afternoon. Signs of heat stress: lethargy (low energy), fast breathing, shaking, collapse. If you see them, call your vet at once. Source for the advice and the signs: RSPCA Knowledgebase, quoted in our free guide The first 14 days outside.

Does it keep snakes out?

No, and we do not claim it does: the holes in the net are 25 mm wide, so it is not snake-proof. The RSPCA advises keeping the grass short and clearing away anything a snake could hide under, so do that around the enclosure. Our own advice: stay nearby while your cat is inside. It is a place to be outside safely with you close by, not a place to leave a cat alone all day.

Can my cat get out of the net?

The net is knotted at every crossing, so a cut or chewed strand stays put instead of running. The door is a full-height zip on one face. The net, the sleeves and the base band are one sewn piece.

What is in the box?

The factory's own packing list: 12 long tubes and 12 short tubes, 8 corner connectors, 13 locking clips, the knotted net with padded sleeves over the tubes, a hammock, a weather cover for the roof with its metal clips, fastening ropes (4 + 2), 4 ground stakes, and a carry bag. One carton of about 87 × 29 × 28 cm, 18.6 kg.

Some photos and the film show the enclosure furnished. The cat tree, toys, chair and plants in them are not included.

This first batch comes from the maker's own stock: the carry bag, the carton and one small tag carry the maker's brand, not ours. The enclosure is the same. To make up for it, every enclosure in this batch comes with a small bag of cat toys: a teaser wand, a suction base and feather toys.

Are the photos real?

Some are, some are not, and here is which. Every garden scene, every image with the tabby cat or furniture, and the accessory examples are made with AI. In them the enclosure is redrawn by the software, so small details such as the hammock straps, the uprights or the blue base band can differ from the real one. The close-ups of the net, the zip, the tubes and the carry bag, and the films marked as filmed by the factory, show the real enclosure. What you receive is what the written description and the packing list say.

Why does it take so long to arrive?

It comes by sea. By air the freight costs more than the enclosure itself. So the honest trade is: you wait, and you save. You see the latest delivery date before you order, not a range, and it is written in your order confirmation.

Where does "worth AUD 105" come from?

Bought separately at Australia's main cat-enclosure specialist, an enclosure hammock (AUD 42) and a roof shade sail (AUD 63) come to AUD 105. Prices read on 17 September 2026. Ours is a weather cover, not a UV-rated shade sail. We never show a crossed-out price: this is simply what the two extras cost when you buy them on their own.

Can I pay in instalments?

Not at the moment. In Australia, pay-later services such as PayPal Pay in 4 and Afterpay are open only to businesses based in Australia, and we are not one yet. Today you pay once, in full, when you order.

Will my council help pay for it?

On 28 September 2026, we had not found any council in Victoria, New South Wales or Queensland, nor the ACT Government, that pays part of the price of a cat enclosure. We have not checked every council.

Two Victorian councils charge a lower yearly fee to register a cat, under conditions. Golden Plains Shire: for a desexed cat that has its own cat enclosure and does not roam outside it. You apply, and the council decides whether it approves the enclosure. City of Greater Geelong: if you commit to keeping your cat contained day and night. A cat kept indoors counts, so you do not need an enclosure.

In Western Australia, we know of two local schemes that pay part of the cost of a cat enclosure. Both ask that your cat can get into the enclosure from the house on its own, for example through a cat flap or a tunnel. Our enclosure has no tunnel, and we do not sell one.

Each council or scheme sets its own rules and decides what it accepts. Read its page before you count on any help.

Can I use your receipt for a rebate?

It depends on the scheme. Your order confirmation email is your receipt. It shows your order number, what you bought and the total paid, in AUD. Calnido is a business registered in France. It has no Australian ABN and is not registered for GST, so neither appears on the receipt. Some past rebate schemes asked for the seller's ABN on the receipt, and ours cannot show one. Some schemes also ask you to register before you buy. Check your scheme's conditions first.

Who is Calnido, and where does my enclosure ship from?

Calnido is the trading name of a sole trader registered in France: a small business run by one person. We sell in Australia only. We are not an Australian business.

Your enclosure waits at our freight forwarder's warehouse in Shenzhen, China. After you order, it goes on the next ship to Australia. The forwarder is the importer and clears customs, so nothing is collected from you on delivery. The latest delivery date is shown on this page before you order, and written in your order confirmation.

Our registration number and address are in our legal notice. Questions: contact@calnido.com.

What if my cat won't go near it?

Every cat is different, and we cannot promise how yours will take to it. RSPCA Australia says a cat that is used to roaming can need a couple of months or more to settle into a contained life, and recommends going gradually, with treats and play as rewards.

Our free guide The first 14 days outside gives the steps and names its public sources: furnish the enclosure first, carry your cat in on a calm, dry day, stay inside with it, and keep the first sessions short. International Cat Care suggests 30 to 60 minutes for first outings. If your cat still seems unsettled after a fair try, talk to your vet. Read the free guide before you order (PDF).

We do not take an enclosure back for a simple change of mind, and a cat that does not take to it counts as one: it comes by sea from China and cannot sensibly travel back. You can cancel at no cost until your carton has left the warehouse. This does not limit our written commitments or your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

What if I am not satisfied?

Three things are written down. If something arrives damaged, faulty or missing, we send the replacement part at our cost and you send nothing back; if the fault is major, you choose a complete replacement or a full refund. If we miss the delivery date, you choose between more time and a full refund. If your council refuses a garden enclosure as containment, in writing, within 90 days of delivery, we refund you in full and collect it.
